This song is about being extremely nervous about telling someone how you truly feel about them when you have no clue how they feel about you. I'm really bad at reading signs that indicate attraction so this is something that happens to me a lot. I feel like people might misinterpret the lyric "Soon I will just be your friend" to mean that I think being "just" friends with someone is a bad thing. I don't. But sometimes when your in that mindset of hoping someone is attracted to you, it feels like that would be the worst thing..
